Interested in becoming Catholic?
Curious? Undecided? come learn.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the ordinary method that the Catholic Church uses to prepare those who are over fourteen years of age to receive the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
Christian Initiation is open to those who have never been baptized, those who have been baptized in either the Catholic Church or another Christian community, or those over the age of 14 who have not received first Holy Communion or Confirmation. The classes associated with Christian initiation are also open to fully initiated Catholics who wish to deepen their understanding and practice of the Catholic faith. The process involves taking time to try to understand the will of God—and His self-revelation in Jesus Christ as preserved and handed down by the Church, consisting of several months of prayer and formal instruction to learn about the truths of the Catholic Faith.
Classes are free of charge and begin in September and meet most weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the parish house, concluding in June. Those preparing to receive sacraments or be formally received into the Church will do so at Easter.
Any who are curious or undecided are welcome to attend sessions in order to assist them in coming to a decision.
Christian initiation at the Philadelphia Oratory is currently led by Br. Joshua. To register for Christian Initiation, please email us or call the parish office.
